About Cathryn Moore
Hi! I’m Cathryn, and I’m so glad you’re here! Before I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - I was always a Social Worker. What I mean by that is - I have always believed that (with adequate support and nuturing) human beings are capable of happiness, personal fulfillment, and reaching their potential. I have always strived to see the good & humanness in everyone - underneath the layers, patterns, complexity, dysfunction, and burdensome learned behaviors. I have always valued forgiveness, flexibility, fluidity, and nuance.
My priorities as a therapist are: compassion, warmth, grace, and unconditional support. I do not judge or aim to pick apart your “every flaw”. I believe that successful therapist + client relationships are based on genuine human connection, mutual respect, and natural rapport.
I chose to pursue a Master’s Degree in Social Work as the profession’s core values resonated deeply: Service, Social Justice, Dignity and Worth of a Person, Importance of Human Relationships, Integrity, and Competence. These values guide the way in which I show up for + support clients in my every day work. I will forever believe that a client is the expert of their life, has incredible strength and potential, and is doing their very best with what is accessible and available.
Outside of my office, I enjoy the outdoors, my dog, family time, travel, yoga, exercise, cooking, creative outlets, skin care routines, and the occasional reality TV binge. Being a millennial is an important part of my identity - I am both embracing the modern world and longing for simpler, less technological times. I feel my best when I am spending less time on a device and more time in real life. Beyond my practice & personal time - I feel passionate about eliminating the stigma around mental health and improving healthcare quality and accessibility.
About Awakened Counseling
My practice provides a modern, holistic, and eclectic approach to counseling. Gone are the days of bright white, sterile, and intimidating therapy experiences. My hope is for clients to feel relaxed, validated, and equally involved in the therapeutic process (& not analyzed, picked apart, shamed, or judged). I draw from a variety of evidence based approaches, including mindfulness, ACT, and REBT. I am also a registered yoga instructor and value mind-body connection.
